Legislative Branch

The United States Congress is the bicameral legislature of the federal government of the United States consisting of two houses. The first is called the House of Representatives or the house and the other is known as the Senate. Congress meets in the Capitol in Washington, D.C. Both representatives and senators are chosen by those they represent through an election. There are 435 members (Click here to find who represents you) in the House of Representatives and 100 members in the Senate (Click here to find who represents you). Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms representing the people of a district. Congressional districts are sized to states by population using the United States Census every ten years. Each state must have at least 1 representative. No matter what the population of a state, each  has two senators; the 100 senators each serve a six-year term.
